Happy Thursday everyone! It's Play Date Cafe challenge day! I hope you managed to pop by the main blog to see all of the anniversary celebrations we've been having with the fab guest designers from Unity! If not, don't worry, pop over there now and have a look at all of the loveliness! :o)
This week we have a challenge that's been offered up by Sarah. It's one of our fun colour splashes. This time it's black and white, with a splash of burgundy.
And here's the inspiration pic..
We are being sponsored by Mark's Finest Papers this week and were sent some lovely stamps to play with. I chose to use the decorative circle and the Happy Birthday sentiment. It makes a nice quick but elegant card. Here's what I did...
- Make flower (see tutorial here), leaving enough time for it to dry out and harden. This is a smaller version of the large black flower I made here. I just scrunched it up more when I made it, and let it dry out initially in the bottom of a little pot to stop it growing too big, then I put it on the radiator which worked a treat!
- Punch two decorative borders in black using border punch
- Cut a strip of card to cover most of the card base, leaving white space top and bottom
- Attach to card
- Die cut burgundy blossom circle
- Die cut white circle using circle nesties, stamp circular image onto white circle, adhere to burgundy blossom shape
- Stamp sentiment onto white card, ink edges with black Copic marker to give definition, attach to centre of decorative circle
- Attach 3d flower to finish
- Upload card to DT gallery only to see another card by Lisa which mine looks like! Think to yourself, 'Oh no, it looks like I copied Lisa'! Great card Lisa, I didn't copy you, honestly, I'd had my little flower idea for a while! Great minds must think alike!
Papers: Basic Grey Scarlett's Letter, Bazzill cardstock
Accessories: Martha Stewart Border Punch, Circle & Blossom Nesties

GET SKETCHY CHALLENGE
I made a little card for our friends who recently got a new dog that they've called Beryl! She is a Newfoundland and is BEAUTIFUL! They already have another Newfoundland called Ruby - cool name, don't ya think?!! ;o) This card is well overdue and I'm hoping my friend isn't going to see it before I give it to her at the weekend.
This is the sketch over at Get Sketchy.
The supplies are Basic Grey for the papers (Max & Whiskers), Lawn Fawn stamps (Critters in the 'burbs), ribbon from The Ribbon Girl and the brad was from a set from my friend.
Just in case you haven't seen one.. This is a Newfoundland, or Newfie as they're also known. How adorable are they?! And MASSIVE! My little Lulu looks like one of their toys when we go round to visit lol
