Color Me Creative–Colour with White?!!!!

Hello, I hope you all managed to recover your blogger posts.  How frustrating that was!  Talk about being addicted to technology, it’s like having your arm cut off when it’s not working lol.

CMC 511-1

This challenge over at Color Me Creative terrified me!  How can you colour white?  Where on earth do I start?!  I then watched Suzanne’s video in Class 2 about colouring white and hey presto, fears alleviated!  It’s really simple (when you know the right people to ask lol).   My card was supposed to be white with a pop of colour, but my pop of colour got a bit ‘Rubied’ (as in it became more than a pop).  I just love colour and when it was white I just couldn’t help but to add more colour!  Hope I’m forgiven Suzanne!

So pop by and see what the other girls have created for you, you won’t be disappointed.

Wedding Card

Hi everyone

Life is still manic in Ruby world so fingers crossed my posts are still going live, unlike my one the other day where I must have messed it up!

I have this quick wedding card to share with you today. I love it when you get a patterned paper and it needs very little done to it to make it into a card!

I hope you've all had a good weekend, and a great week ahead too!

I hope to be back joining in challenges again soon.  Have fun!

Card Patterns Sketch Challenge

Hey everyone

Phew it's been a LONG week. So glad it's the weekend, time to recharge :o)

I made this card for the Card Patterns Sketch Challenge. I wanted something quite simple yet elegant.  I used Amy Butler papers, Sizzix Bigz Flower Die (thanks for the fab instructions Sue!!), nesties and PTI Big & Bold Wishes.  To finish off ribbon from my stash and a Prima pearl.

By the way I keep meaning to say, I haven't forgotten about my mini giveaway a while back, but nobody entered so I never did a drawing for it!  If you fancy posting the prize is still up for giveaway, you will find the link here.

Have a great weekend, we have Tink's best friend coming for a sleepover on Sunday night, but other than that I'm hoping to get lots of crafting done with her.  I think she's finally getting the bug!  I found her out in my studio earlier trying out a tag she'd seen on a Lawn Fawn video!!  She's really very good at this cardmaking thing!!

Play Date Cafe - it's a peach

For Tiffany Doodles Blog Hop Winner please scroll down...(updated post to include winner)

Happy Thursday!  I love Thursdays, they mean it's nearly the weekend and it's also Play Date Cafe Challenge day!  Yay!  I LOVE these challenges, they truly do push me to try new colours!

This week Sarah set the challenge of peaches, lemon and white.  All of my favourite colours... not!  Sarah set it to challenge herself because they are not her colours either, but you will never guess what... I made this card and I actually like it!  Me, peach?  Those two words would never normally be said in the same sentence lol.  I do like my bright colours, but I guess in an itzy bitzy way I have cheated (only slightly) with this challenge!  I added some 'darker peach' that maybe, just maybe, others might say is orange, but the fact remains I've used peach!  It's amazing!!  Sarah, thank you!  I told you your name would be mud in my house the week we do peach, but I actually really enjoyed the challenge!! ;o)

Here is the inspirational pic for this week.

You must play along.  Our sponsor this week is Limelight, they have some great giveaways too!  In fact, I wish I could enter!!

The design team have come up with some beauties this week, and go check out Jen del Muro's card too, it's stunning!  Jen is our guest designer this week.  I LOVE her work, she probably doesn't know it, but she inspired me into buying Stamping Bellas (the Buggabella ones)  (I just need to use them now lol)

My card today totally needed to be made into a wedding cake!  I was really naughty a few weeks ago.  I saw this GORGEOUS 'Mad Hatter Cake' die cutter and I just had to have it.  I made a quick phone call to Ian, fluttered my eyelashes (not that he could see them down the phone, but anyway) and asked if he'd like to buy me a present.  He is very logical, so he asked how much it was, and how many cards I would make with it.  I said, 'loads'.  (well you do say that, don't you, when you're trying to justify yet more crafting supplies!)  and he said well you only need to make a certain number to pay for the die cutter, so yes I could have it.  Wow, I must remember to apply that logic to something else that I want to buy in the future!!!   I wonder if I could make it work for handbags too lol.

So enough of me waffling on.  Here are the details of how to make it...
  1. Die cut cake in different colours, assemble as shown, add paint accents to flowers and leaves
  2. Cut and re-cut the die using various additional pieces of cardstock to cut the spirals.  Oh boy, those spirals are a challenge to cut out!
  3. Die cut circle and scallop in peach and assemble
  4. Adhere some stripy ribbon, cut into a 'v' at the side and add some twine to make into a bow, add prima flower
  5. Pop dot scalloped circle to the card, and add the cake
  6. Stamp sentiment to finish
  7. Smile!  You've just made a pastel card that you like :o)
Dies: Cottage Cutz: Mad Hatter Cake, Nesties circles and scallops
Stamps: Walzingmouse Stamps: Fancy Phrases
Papers: Bazzill Cardstock, SU! papers (pressie from Sarah-Jane over at Cards and a Cuppa), thanks SJ!
Accessories: Prima flowers, Smooch white and green paint, SU! Pumpkin Pie grossgrain ribbon
On a completely separate note you must do a google search on 'Mad Hatter Cakes'.  I was trying to find a pic of the cutter for everyone and came across the most AMAZING cakes.  I'd like this one from media.theknot.com.. it's SO me!

How FAB is that?!!!   I can feel another wedding cake card coming on.  Well I do need to make that money back for that cutter, don't I?!!!

Don't forget to join in on the fun over at PDCC this week.   I wonder if any of you will do a cake card too??

    Mr & Mrs :o)

    Happy Sunday everyone!

Today is Corrosive Challenge day, so hop on over to their blog and join in on the fun. Each week there is a different challenge and the opportunity to win a prize :o) This week it's a vintage scrapbook and some ribbon.

The challenge was to make a folded card. I don't often do folded cards so I had to put my thinking hat on for this one! I thought I would play around with an idea for a 'Mr & Mrs' card.

By the way, do any of you watch that over in the UK? It used to be shown over here when I was very little, many many years ago. They are now running it with celebrity couples. Basically the husbands and wives have to answer questions about each other and the winners get money to give to charity. It always sets off a few giggles in our house because we all play it together. Natasha usually comments on what she thinks and then we both say what we would have answered. Generally we are right, so no arguments so far lol. For those of you that have watched it you may identify with me when I say once you hear the tune you can't stop humming it. This card became quite annoying after a while lol.

Ok, so onto my card. I scored a sheet of 12 x 12 card into 3 sections then cut off the top of the folded card to make the angled top. I then cut out two strips of the background paper and adhered these to either side of the middle. I cut out the word 'Mr & Mrs' and stuck this on the centre panel.

Using my Cricut machine and the Paper Dolls cartridge I cut out 'groom' and 'bride' in silver, white and black as seen. I then pieced them together adding brads for buttons to the groom's suit, a pink hankie for the for his top pocket and sprinkled glitter over the wedding dress. That's it. Quite simple really, but a little time consuming piecing the bits together. I was quite pleased how it turned out. I had been thinking through a slightly different idea where I was going to cut around the clothes by putting them on the folds but it didn't look quite right and I ended up with this.

Hope you like it. Enjoy the rest of your day. It was supposed to be sunny here all day, but it's been a bit overcast, the sun is just starting to come out though, yay! I think we might pop out for a bite to eat now to make the most of it.

I'm hoping to start entering some challenges soon, it's just been a bit busy with one thing or another but I'm getting back on track now finally. I like my weekly inspirational challenges, don't you? ♥
