Happy Corner Bookmark

Happy Tuesday!  I hope you’re having some lovely weather where you are.  Today over at Make The Day Special I have a fun little bookmark to share.  I am studying at the moment so have a lot of books on the go and wanted to make a few bookmarks to mark my place.  I really do need to keep finishing my books though instead of getting excited about the next new thing to read lol.

I used the picture over at Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge for inspiration.  I would love those pics below on my wall, aren’t they funky!  The challenge is their Picture Perfect Challenge.  Have you seen the team's interpretations?  They are FAB!

I thought these papers from Bo Bunny 'Alora' would work well and the little flowers made me dig out my Perky Plants set from Paper Smooches and get colouring with my Copics.

For the rest of the details pop on over to the MTDS blog.

Have fun!

Play Date Cafe is Getting me Organised!

Hi there.  It’s Play Date Cafe time.  First up I have my project and then I’m sad to say I have some goodbyes to say :o(

Today is the start of me getting more organised in my studio.  I saw the latest PTI Rolodex goodies last month and had to get some.  I have wanted a rolodex system since FOR-EVER…. yes really!  This gave me chance to do two things; get more organised and play with dies/stamps in preparation for my Rolodex system!  Woohoo!

So here is what I created..

PDCC 142(2)
PDCC 142
Very basic I know but I want to keep this simple otherwise I won’t keep it up! I die cut the little tabbed dividers and stamped them using the PTI Polka Dot Basics in colours to match the cardstock.  I then stamped the wording in black.

I then die cut the central tabbed Rolodex card, cutting off the top so that I could use it to file into my system.  (I’m waiting for my actual blank Rolodex cards to arrive).  On this I stamped (in Ranger Distress Ink ‘Tumbled Glass’) the grid and added the little image from our inspiration colour story to the left.  I shrunk the image down to 1.75cm height x 2.2cm width so that I could print it off and stamped the little black border around it before cutting it out and sticking it onto my card.  As these aren’t the proper Rolodex cards I needed to round both corners so that they matched with my Corner Chomper (set at 1/4”).  To finish all I had to do was add a little hand-drawn heart and my design details and ta-da, one colour story ready for filing for later use.

What do you think of our new PDCC watermarks?!  Our very own Jaclyn Miller designed them, aren’t they funky!

Cobalt, Goldenrod, Peony
My pink looks extremely bright here, but it is actually the colour of the story.  We have sun for a change so it’s come out brighter, but hey…I’m not complaining, not after all the rain we’ve been having!

We have lots of new people joining us as you may have seen over at the main PDCC blog but we also have some that are leaving us.  Pop on over to the main blog for details of the new girls joining us next week, you will be SO impressed.

Sadly though we are losing some real gems. I thought I would share one of my favourite projects for each of you..(in alphabetical order, I couldn’t pick one to be first lol)

Colleen Dietrich – my favourite card of Colleen’s is actually her one from last week, I just love it. Colleen is one of the sweetest people I have met in blogland, this card sums her up!

Denise January – I just love Denise’s cards, her design and layering are beautiful. This card made my jaw drop, isn’t it divine! She costs me a fortune in PTI!! ;o)

Jinny Newlin – The Queen of Dressy Bows! Jinny always inspires me. I just love reading how she puts things together, she makes me want to dig out my sewing machine!! Check out that bow, isn’t it fab!

Savannah O’Gwynn – I LoVe Savvy’s cupcakes and this one is my favourite! I know we will be ‘friends owl-ways’! Thanks for being such a great friend Savvy!

I’m really truly sorry to see you girls go, I will miss you all (let’s stay in touch!)  It’s been so much fun getting to know you all.

I hope you join in the fun with us over at The Play Date Cafe.  We’d love to see what you come up with for this week’s happy colours. For details of the challenge and prize pop on over to the main PDCC blog and prepare to be inspired.

Hope the sun shines for you wherever you go!

Color Me Creative & Kraftin’ Kimmie

Hi there!  It’s time for some fun over at Color Me Creative.  This time our challenge is ‘Anything Goes’.
CMC 712-2
Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps are our sponsors for this challenge and I was sent this fun image from a set called ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ by artist Emilie Goulet.  It was only released last month, so it was nice to be able to play with one of the new range.

CMC 712-2cp
I used SO many colours on this one, but she was crying out for lots of fun colour; look at all of those fab shopping bags, they just had to be colourful, don’t ya think?! This is my friend’s little basket, isn’t it divine, I want need one!

I need to move my colouring up a notch now I think.  I feel more confident with picking up my pens now but I’m not improving so  I’ve set aside some time each week now to get in a bit of colouring using Suzanne’s Copic Classes, otherwise I won’t achieve my goal of completing all 5 classes by the end of this year.  They are so much fun, I just tend to procrastinate on the things I love to do, replacing them with boring things like housework!  I’ve decided life is toooooo short now, colouring here I come!

I picked out some older Cosmo Cricket Pixie-licious papers and then coloured in my image to co-ordinate with them.  The panel the image is on was die cut using Spellbinders dies and then attached to the turquoise panel before adding pop dots for dimension.
Pop over to CMC to find out all of the details of our challenge and to see the DT slideshow.  They cooked up some fun projects for you!

Have a great weekend!

I Wish I Was A Glow Worm!

I wish I was a glow worm, cause a glow worm’s never glum.  ‘Cause how can you be grumpy when the sun shines out your bum?!

Don’t you just LOVE this phrase, it really makes me giggle!  It’s one of the fun stamps by DRS, the sponsors for this week’s Play Date Cafe Challenge.

I created this little card for a very lovely friend that always likes to smile and see the fun side of life and I’m hoping I got it right when I thought that this would be right up her street for her birthday card!

PDCC 141
I stamped the little sentiment inside.. Even the font’s cute, isn’t it!
PDCC 141(2)
My card is blank inside, I didn’t take a pic because the light over here isn’t great.  We have lots and lots of rain right now, with lots of grey cloud.  Even more reason to have a fantastic little sentiment like this to brighten up your day!!  I know some of you US gals are suffering with droughts so I will gladly send some rain over to you!!

I used a mixture of old scraps of paper, the die cut letters/number are from a Sizzix letter set called Ida Flowers ScrapBox.  I coloured in the glow worm with some Copics and added some glitter Stickles to finish.

MTDS Quick Card

Hey everyone! It’s been a very busy week so I have just a very simple card to share today with you over at the Make The Day Special blog.   My daughter needed a quick birthday card and this is all I could come up with when I had about a ten minute deadline lol. Talk about lastminute.com!

Sketchbook Saturday Challenge

Hi there.  I was asked to make a 90th birthday card for someone with the design brief to use purple.  Well try as I might I couldn’t get this card to work, despite having this fab sketch to play with.  I had to keep walking away yesterday and coming back to it because try as I might the mojo just wasn’t there!  In the end I opted for some wording instead of an image and it seemed to fit together better.

Sketchbook Sat 160712

I used this sketch from Sketchbook Saturday..

I started by matting my base card with a lilac strip to the left and the Basic Grey patterned paper to the right that I had tied a ribbon around, tying it in a (Jinny Newlin!) dressy bow.  I die cut a Memory Box leaf that I had cut into two and tucked it behind the bow before adding a white Prima flower that I died using a purple Copic pen.  I then cut a strip of purple to line the central panel of the card.  On the purple panel I added a label that had been stamped with the sentiment and then inked around the edges with Dusty Concord distress ink die and attached to a Spellbinders oval die cut.  I die cut the little banner, again that I coloured with my Copics in order to get the right colour match before adding the elements to the card as shown.  To finish I added three gems in the bottom left hand corner.

Hope you’ve had a good day.  I will be back tomorrow with a quick and simple card for my Make The Day Special post.

Ciao for now!

Hello Dude!

Hey my blogging friends!  It’s time for a bit of navy/dark blue over at Color Me Creative.  I’m a bit late with my card, I’ve been having a lot of techie issues this week for some reason.  This wouldn’t be my go to colour of choice for images but it was actually quite easy to do, it didn’t take too much blending like some of the colours can.

CMC 712-1
The story behind this is my daughter (Tinks) has just got a new hamster, she wanted a mouse but we researched it and were told they weren’t great pets to keep so we got a hamster instead.  Just to confuse things she’s called her Mouse!  I made this card from her mouse thanking Tinks for being her friend!  She nearly got sent back (the hamster that is, not our daughter!) because she kept us awake half the night when she arrived trying a little Houdini act and practising morse code on her cage bars, but she is much, much happier now.

(This is her in the shop, she now has a very lovely house to live in and is pampered like a princess lol)

We’re always making coffee in our house, we’re officially addicts, so it worked perfectly that the little mouse was peeping out from behind a latte!

I got to play with my new MFT jumbo ric rac die, isn’t it fab!  The papers are by Basic Grey

Here are the colours I’ve used.  I meant to take a pic when I photographed my card and forgot, but the weather here is grim today, really overcast and rainy so it’s too dark to take a decent pic now.

Cup: B69, B29, B28, B24
Cup Label: BG10
Mouse: W5, W3, W1
Ears: R85, R83, R81

Our sponsor this time is Sweet 'n' Sassy Stamps and my gorgeous little mouse image is called Cocoa's Latte!  Thank you Sweet 'n' Sassy, she was so much fun to colour and brought a huge smile to my Tink's face!

**Navy Blue/Dark Blues**

Colour ANY image ANY way you like---but it MUST have LOTS OF DARK BLUE/NAVY COLOURS in it!  We want to see you use your Copics, ProMarkers, other alcohol markers or Coloured Pencils!!

Pop by the rest of the DT to see what they’ve created too.  There’s a whole lot of fabness going on!  Our fabulous guest designer for this challenge is:

The challenge will run until July 20th, so grab those colours and join in on the fun.
