I Wish I Was A Glow Worm!

I wish I was a glow worm, cause a glow worm’s never glum.  ‘Cause how can you be grumpy when the sun shines out your bum?!

Don’t you just LOVE this phrase, it really makes me giggle!  It’s one of the fun stamps by DRS, the sponsors for this week’s Play Date Cafe Challenge.

I created this little card for a very lovely friend that always likes to smile and see the fun side of life and I’m hoping I got it right when I thought that this would be right up her street for her birthday card!

PDCC 141
I stamped the little sentiment inside.. Even the font’s cute, isn’t it!
PDCC 141(2)
My card is blank inside, I didn’t take a pic because the light over here isn’t great.  We have lots and lots of rain right now, with lots of grey cloud.  Even more reason to have a fantastic little sentiment like this to brighten up your day!!  I know some of you US gals are suffering with droughts so I will gladly send some rain over to you!!

I used a mixture of old scraps of paper, the die cut letters/number are from a Sizzix letter set called Ida Flowers ScrapBox.  I coloured in the glow worm with some Copics and added some glitter Stickles to finish.

PDCC 123

Happy Thursday again!!  Phew it’s been a full on one this week!

It’s time for another Play Date Cafe challenge and we have one bright beauty of a colour palette for you this week, I love it!  My only problem is that when we were picking our choice of stamps from our fabulous sponsors, DRS, I didn’t take into account that we were using these colours and I chose a ‘With Sympathy’ stamp to go with my butterfly frame!!! Uh oh!!!

Anyway, this is what I have ended up with.  Hope you like it!

Personally I’d love a cheery card like this for this kind of occasion, but I do know I’m the exception to the rule lol.  Anyway, if you can imagine this as a birthday card instead then that might help you like it a bit more!!  I actually LOVE this little DRS butterfly frame and the sentiment font is just so very pretty!  Thank you DRS for such beautiful stamps!! :)

Here’s our GORGEOUS inspiration pic….

I’m not sure if it’s clear in my photo but the flowers in the centre of the frame are just cut out of the background paper with some glossy accents added and pop dotted, adding a gem to the centre to finish.  I coloured the little butterflies with my Copic markers.

That’s it from me today.  Pop by the main Play Date Cafe blog for all of the details and to get some fabulous inspiration from the rest of the team.

Have a great Thursday!

Happy Holidays!

I have a cute little snowman that wants to make an appearance today! We have some fabulous colours for you over at The Play Date Cafe this week, really fresh and fun to work with.  Here’s what I created with some gorgeous stamps from DRS Designs, our sponsors for this week’s challenge.

Here’s the lovely inspiration picture…

  1. Mat two thirds of card base with patterned paper
  2. Tie polka dot ribbon around the panel and tie with some twine and ribbons
  3. Due cut eyelet circle border in blue and adhere underneath
  4. Punch four squares of different patterned paper and attach to the bottom of the card as shown
  5. Stamp the snowman onto some cryogen cardstock and coloured him with Copics, adding Glossy Accents to the heart on his hat and the four hearts on his banner
  6. Attach the completed panel to some stripy paper after rounding off corners, attaching brads (these brads are sooooo old I have no idea where they came from!) before adding to the card base with pop dots
  7. Die cut a mini label, stamp on some snowflakes in Ranger Distress Ink.  I stamped them off onto paper first and then onto the die to make them a little softer in colour
  8. Stamp ‘Happy Holidays’ sentiment over the top in black, attach to the centre of the mini squares at the bottom
For some reason that little sentiment in the middle with the squares reminds me of Santa’s buckle and belt lol

Thank you DRS Designs, these stamps really are cute!  I had a lovely time colouring them in, the snowman works perfectly with Copics, lots of lovely open areas to colour.
I made this card while watching White Christmas on DVD, soooo lovely. I need to dig out some more Christmas films to inspire me to get my cards finished and ready to post. I’m going to add this to my Christmas card stash and I’m also linking up to the Create: blog again.

Pop by the other girls’ blogs to see what they’ve created.  Their cards are all up on the main Play Date Cafe blog, along with information on the prize up for grabs.

So, not just one but two posts from me today!  I will be back later with some more to share for The Stamp Attic.

See you soon!

Play Date Cafe & DRS Designs

Hi there

It’s time for another fun challenge with us over at The Play Date Cafe!  This week I have a cute giraffe to share with you.  I think he’s adorable!  Thank you DRS for sponsoring us and letting us choose such lovely stamps!

PDCC 98

Firstly I attached a corner rounded panel to the card base that I had tied around with a stripey ribbon.  I then coloured Jenny with Copics, BG78, BG72, BG70 and YR24, YR23, YR21 before fussy cutting him out and attaching him to a Go Kreate concentric tag cut out of various patterned papers, using pop dots for added dimension.  Finally I added a wooden chipboard letter ‘B’ for baby.  (oops I thought Jenny was a ‘he’ so I’ve been calling him Gerry in my head!!)  Well he/she would look good in any colour, sooo cute!

Inside I stamped the sweet little sentiment stamp (Diapers, Rattles and Blankets Baby Greeting’ onto patterned paper, I then die cut it and added a little Ranger Distress Ink ‘Faded Jeans’ around the edges and to finish I cut a strip of patterned paper to match the front tag.  Sorry my photo’s not great, the light had gone by the time I had tried to take this pic.

These are our colours this week, with the suggested colours of teal, mustard and navy.

There’s a fab prize up for grabs from our sponsors, DRS Designs.

Sadly we are saying goodbye to two wonderful girls Sad smile  Libby Hickson and Tracy Kuzniak are leaving us.  What I love about Libby is how she keeps us up to date with everything that’s going on, she is such a sweetie and fun to be on the team with.  My favourite work of hers is when she paints different things, but one card in particular stands out in mind for me when I think of her.. this Hero Arts one, just beautiful! That gorgeous black glossy centre is enamel accents, yum!!  You can see more about this card on Libby’s blog here.

Tracey is also such a kind hearted and friendly person to be around.  She sent me a wonderful surprise package through the post of a little embossing buddy to help me sort out my embossing problem, but more special was the little card that I am now the very proud owner of!  It is still my favourite card of hers, I just love it, the colours, the design and the words, it sits on the windowsill in my office.  I really should get it framed!  You can see more about it on Tracey’s blog here.

We will truly miss you girls, it’s been so much fun being on the team with you and getting to know you.  We’ll keep up with your creative endeavours in blog land though I’m sure Smile

Don’t forget you can also follow The Play Date Cafe on facebook!  We’d love to see you.

Have a great day everyone!  I’m hoping to get time to play on the new linky linking up tool soon, it sounds as though it will save so much time.  Watch this space!
