Sketchbook Saturday Challenge

Hi there.  I was asked to make a 90th birthday card for someone with the design brief to use purple.  Well try as I might I couldn’t get this card to work, despite having this fab sketch to play with.  I had to keep walking away yesterday and coming back to it because try as I might the mojo just wasn’t there!  In the end I opted for some wording instead of an image and it seemed to fit together better.

Sketchbook Sat 160712

I used this sketch from Sketchbook Saturday..

I started by matting my base card with a lilac strip to the left and the Basic Grey patterned paper to the right that I had tied a ribbon around, tying it in a (Jinny Newlin!) dressy bow.  I die cut a Memory Box leaf that I had cut into two and tucked it behind the bow before adding a white Prima flower that I died using a purple Copic pen.  I then cut a strip of purple to line the central panel of the card.  On the purple panel I added a label that had been stamped with the sentiment and then inked around the edges with Dusty Concord distress ink die and attached to a Spellbinders oval die cut.  I die cut the little banner, again that I coloured with my Copics in order to get the right colour match before adding the elements to the card as shown.  To finish I added three gems in the bottom left hand corner.

Hope you’ve had a good day.  I will be back tomorrow with a quick and simple card for my Make The Day Special post.

Ciao for now!

  1. Oh Ruby, I think it's very pretty! You didn't have to worry about the lack of mojo, it was certainly there :) Although I know exactly what you mean about mojo evading us at times... Cheers! Chupa
