Today I have a fun card to share with you using sepia colouring techniques. When I first heard about this challenge I panicked a little! I have never coloured in sepia so it was definitely a bit of a stretch, but to my surprise it was a whole lot easier than I thought and I loved doing it.
(NB: if you’re here to find out the winner of my giveaway please scroll to the bottom of this post)
My friend bought me this gorgeous Greeting Farm stamp, she’s called Tuesday. You can’t quite make it out in the photo but I have coloured her eyeshadow with a Spica glitter pen so it has a lovely sparkle to it.
If you’re signed up to Suzanne’s Color Me Creative classroom you will find a fabulous tutorial in Class 4 on how to colour with sepia. I rummaged through my old photos to see if I had any that were sepia, but thankfully I mustn’t be old enough as my oldest are just black and white! I’d like to try and recolour her in black and white actually as it’s another technique I haven’t tried yet.
These are the inspiration pics…
It’s meant to be a ‘pop’ of colour so I’m not quite sure my polka dot background qualifies but my image does just have a pop of colour if that counts ;o)
What’s fun about this technique is that you don’t need every single pen out on your studio table, you just have a few as you can see below and where they are so close in the colour family they blend almost effortlessly. I’d love to know what you think of her hair, I was experimenting with some lighter tones.
The rest of the DT girls have made up some absolute beauties, you will be in awe of some of their colouring, so pop by and visit each of their blogs for inspiration…
