Funky Hair!

Hi there.  It’s time for another Color Me Creative challenge, this time it’s all about colouring hair with a different colour, multi coloured/non-traditional  I thought I’d go the red route!

CMC 1111-2
This girl is a fun digi image that we were given from Simply Betty, our sponsors for this challenge.  Thank you Simply Betty!!
simplybettyad
Her name is Miss Betty Burton. I just love these quirky designs, they’re fun and great to colour too.  I wanted to use my Halloween type image for a love card, Valentine’s or even Anniversary because I had this perfect Paper Smooches sentiment to go with the bat!
You may not be able to tell from the picture but I’ve used a Spica pen to give her some sparkly eye-shadow.  Suzanne teaches a really great video in skin colouring so I’m finding my skin is a little smoother each time now rather than the overcooked foundation look that I used to get lol.  My card is a mini card, (5in x 3in) so I kept it all quite simple, using some pretty papers from Jenni Bowlin and just adding a piece of ribbon.

I’m entering this into the following challenges;

Crafty Boots – Anything goes
Make It Mondays – Anything goes
365 Cards – Keep it Simple

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Hi everyone

To those of you that celebrate Happy Thanksgiving!!

I was asked to make a card for my Mum for her American friend and this was inspired by the leaves on the inspiration picture over at the latest Lawnscaping’s challenge..

I was also inspired by a leaflet that came in the post with a green background and falling leaves.  It’s funny where you get inspiration from sometimes!

Happy Thanksgiving 2
You may remember me saying that we have no Play Date Cafe challenge this week because our current challenge is running for two weeks to give players a bit more time over the holiday period, so there is plenty of time to play along.  Here’s my original post for more information.

Hope you’re enjoying the celebrations.  If you’re not celebrating then I hope you've had a fabulous Thursday!

Published Recipe Card

Hi there

I have this recipe card to share with you today that was recently published in the Through The Craftroom Door magazine.

Pumpkin Soup Recipe TTCRD Ruby
This Pumpkin Soup recipe is gorgeous!

Hope you’re all having a great week, we’re on our countdown to Christmas now so trying to make a lot of Christmas cards and tags that I’ve been asked for.  Eeek, where does the time go?!

For this little card I used my Copics with Lawn Fawn Harvest Season stamps and some distress inks on a recipe card that I had typed up on my computer.

I’m linking this up to our Paper Issues challenge, the current theme is Thankful For Fall.. I’m thankful for gorgeous yummy pumpkins and for Autumn (Fall), I LOVE it!

Don’t forget there is still time to play along with our Color Me Creative Challenge which is all about ‘Colors of the Sea’, for more info check out my original post.  I really need to get my act together and start doing some more learning, I’ve missed doing my online Copic classes over there.

Happy Cooking!

Play Date Cafe & Lawn Fawn

Woohoo, it’s one of my favourite of all time companies sponsoring us for our Play Date Cafe challenge this time!  I does love me some Lawn Fawn!

I used three Lawn Fawn sets to create this mad card!  That little turkey makes me giggle, he’s so funny!  I used Quinn’s ABC’s, Turkey Day and the leaf is from Harvest Season.
PDCC 108
The colours this week seemed to scream Autumn at me!  The suggested colours are Maroon, Copper and Turmeric.  Hope I got them about right!

Pop on by the rest of the DT at the main Play Date Cafe blog to see what they’ve created, there’s loads of inspiration there for you!  You can also find out all about our fun prize.

Our challenge this time will run for two weeks.  We know how busy it can get with families so busy with Thanksgiving, so that means you get more time to play, woohoo!

As I type this post I am falling asleep, it’s been oh such a very long day, but in a good way.

Have fun!

Color Me Creative & Gratitude

Today we are running a ‘Colours of the Sea’ challenge over at Color Me Creative.

CMC 1111-2
We are being sponsored by the lovely Michelle Perkett’s Studioimagewho kindly let us choose a mermaid image so I chose this pretty girl with her stunning flowing hair.  Thank you for my fab image, she was so much fun to colour, really therapeutic!

For this challenge I used the mermaid image to use on the front cover of a Gratitude Journal.  I’m a bit later posting my challenge this time because I’ve been quite poorly the past few days so trying to be grateful was a bit of a challenge when you ache from head to foot and feel like you’re dying lol, but I was grateful for a lovely warm, cozy bed, for my attentive family that kept me plied in painkillers, drinks and plumped pillows (and gave me the peace and quiet that I needed), for my little dog that curled herself up on the bed beside me as I slept and for my Kindle that meant I didn’t even have to turn a page when my arms couldn’t quite make it!!  We can often take so many things for granted and I know for me I often have to remind myself to live in the moment. There are truly so very many things to be grateful for if you take the time to look for them.

I have always been someone that tries to see the cup half full instead of half empty and I think part of this comes from the fact that I endeavour to be grateful for all that I have in life.  It’s so easy to get embroiled in everyday life that it’s easy to miss the small beauty in everything we do.  Often as a family we play a game where we have to list the top 10 things we’re grateful for.  I thought this little journal would be a great way to record these things.  Ok, so it’s only one page, but it’s a start!  Thanks to my teamie Stacy (Rodriguez) for encouraging me to make a start on my mini book!

So for my picture I used lots of blues and blue-greens and then accented with reds for her shells for some contrast.  I find you have to be a bit careful with some of the Copic lids because some seem darker than others but actually aren’t, for example BG15’s lid looks lighter than BG13, as does B28 & B26, so I just lie them down in a row of three and that way I make sure I pick up the right one!  It sounds basic, but trust me it’s frustrating when you keep picking up the wrong one!

I’m not sure you can see her sparkle but I added some Spica pen to the reds for a bit more shimmer, and then added some pearls using my Viva Pearl Pen. I’m slowly starting to get a better finish on skin colouring, I find if I lay down my E00 first and then add my darker E11 for the darker areas, then blend that out with E00 it seems to be a bit more even in coverage.  It’s a bit like foundation, only harder lol

The page size is 4 3/8" x 5 1/2". I stamped the sentiments using stamps from the Gratitude Journal set and added a strip of red plus a die cut behind the main panel for a bit of interest.
I am entering this journal cover into 3 challenges…

The Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge using this sketch that I turned on its side..

image
I’m also entering it into the Alphabet Challenge to create something ‘Under the Sea’ and into Card Mad Fairy’s to add texture which I did with the pearls and hopefully with my shading to her hair.

Here are the details of the challenge….

** COLORS of the SEA!! **
Use colors associate with the ocean, it’s marine-life, shells and mermaids!

You may use any image you like but you must use colors of the sea to color it with your copics!!  (but we'd love, love to see you use an image that is sea-inspired)

We want to see you use YOUR COPICS, COPIC REFILLS OR COPIC AIRBRUSH SYSTEM (Or ProMarkers if you have them)

Use Inspiration Pictures Below as well!

A bit stuck for inspiration?  Pop by the rest of the team to see what they’ve created for you!

So go and grab yourself an image to colour, pick up those pens, and get colouring, you’ve got loads of time to join in the fun and to win a fab prize too!  For more details on that pop on over to the main Color Me Creative blog.  You could also be our guest designer too!

This time we have two guest designers, we couldn’t make our minds up!  We have Angela Woods & Anne Brown so pop on by and say hello to them too.

Play Date Cafe Colour(Color) Splash!

Yay, it’s time for our Colour Splash over at The Play Date Cafe!  I used to find these really challenging but the more I do them the more fun they are.  I thought I’d go a bit more elegant with my card this week. I haven’t done step by step instructions for a while so thought I’d do that below.

PDCC 107
  • Cut a panel of black cardstock to cover the card base as shown above
  • Die cut four white squares using zig zag PTI die
  • Using black ink stamp four different patterns onto the white squares and attach with pop dots to card base
  • Die cut and stamp a label and attach to card base using pop dots
  • Stamp flower in Spiced Marmalade distress ink and stem in Peeled Paint distress ink
  • Cut around edge leaving a border and tie with orange ribbon, attach to card base with pop dots
  • Die cut border die in orange cardstock and attach to card as shown
  • Stamp sentiment onto white cardstock, cut to size and adhere to card base
  • Add crystals to finish
Here’s the fun inspiration pic of our colour splash.  So to be eligible to win you must use black, white and a splash of orange.  What ideas could you come up with?  There are so many.
107 color splash orange
I could have made loads of these, but stopped at this plus one in purple and pink, as shown below.  You could make them in so many colour combos and they work as well for birthdays, congrats cards as they would for sympathy cards, just by toning down the colours used.

PDCC 107 (2)
Which one’s your favourite?  Mine’s the black and white one!

Pop on over to the main blog to see what all of my fab teamies have been up to.  We have The Scrapping Cottage sponsoring us this week.  I have a wonderful die cut set from them that I used for this wedding cake for a PDCC a while back and my daughter Natasha,
PDCC 32
aka Rock Chick Tink just used it for one of her cards too.  Really fun to use!

Hope you get some time to join in the fun with us.  We love seeing what you create each week, you inspire us all!
