Color Me Creative brings in the Spring

Over at Color Me Creative we have a Spring challenge for you.  It doesn’t feel like Spring here today, it’s been freezing!  Yesterday was glorious sunshine and beautifully warm, today scarves and jumpers looked tempting!

I chose to mix it up with a few challenges for my card.. a sketch from Mojo Monday, colours from Color Q and an inspiration picture from Paper Smooches and this is the result..

I spent AGES on trying to mask my little bunny because on the original stamp he was holding a carrot and I wanted to change him so that he was hugging the egg.  So I was sitting at my table surrounded by post it notes and several unhappy attempts at masking and then my other half walked in and said, ‘why don’t you just cut the carrot off’.  Grrr, why didn’t I think of that lol.  Note to self.. don’t try and make cards late at night when you’re half asleep!  I wouldn’t mind but I’ve masked a few things now but I couldn’t get it to work at all.  Oh well, at least he pointed out the obvious lol

Pop on over to the main Color Me Creative blog to find out all the details of our challenge but don’t forget to visit the rest of our DT and also our guest designers too.  They have some wonderful spring colours/designs to inspire you with.

Pop on over to our main CMC blog for all of the details of our latest challenge and join in the fun!  Don’t forget you’re not just restricted to Copic markers, you can also use ProMarkers, other alcohol markers or Coloured Pencils!!  Pop by the rest of the DT girls below to see what they’ve created;

and also go and visit our two guest designers;

Hello again!

I'm trying to catch up on my postings :o)

I've got a birthday card to share with you today. I bought this paper a long time ago, but I just love it. I've been trying to work out what flower to put with it and then came across one of my cutters that I thought might do it justice!

I made the card using this Mojo Monday Week 128 sketch, but because it was a busy weekend with family staying I never got around to posting it.

I will leave you with the deets...

Dies: Sizzix 'Flower Daisy #3', circle and scallop circle nesties
Stamps: Kanban Clear Stamps - 'Happy Birthday, butterfly
Paper: Purple and blue Bazzill Cardstock, Basic Grey 'Wysteria - Garden Patio'
Accessories: Papermania pearl adhesive gems from stash, purple inkpad

Have a lovely day/evening.

Mojo Monday

Hi everyone

How has your week been?  You will be pleased to know everyone in the house is now a lot better, so I've put my nursing uniform away now ;o)  I don't make a great nurse really.  I'm not so bad with Natasha because we snuggle up together, but with Ian I want to pamper him and he hates it so I have to just leave him alone.  It took him ages to realise that I don't want to be left alone when I'm ill. I want sympathy, flowers, books to read, get well presents, hugs, the works!!  I get really grumpy if people don't notice I'm ill at home lol.  People can usually tell if I'm really not well though, it's about the only time I'm quiet!!

Anyway, onto cards... The minute I saw this sketch over at Mojo Monday I knew I had to play along.  I just LOVE circular cards, don't you?!

I needed to make two congratulations cards, one is in line with the sketch, the other is a tweaked version.

The orange card was great because I just used the reverse side of the patterned paper so that the back of the card looks really pretty.

The first time I made a circular card was when I joined in with Kristina Werner's A Year in Cards, see here.  These cards just seem so much easier to make than normal ones, or maybe it's just that I really enjoy doing them!  (mind you I'm not sure many liked that card, I only got one comment!!)

My second card uses one of my favourite papers.  I just love the colours of this, and the sparkle flourishes (saves me another job lol)  I think bright colours look great with black.   That tends to come across in my clothes too, not just cards.  I wanted to make it a bit different to the first one so just added some large black sparkly letters and a little gingham bow.

I will just leave you with the details for the two cards today, they are probably quite self explanatory really.  Have you noticed I've been threading very thin strips of paper through my buttons lately instead of ribbon.  How do you do yours?

I picked up some great coloured 'twine' from a local bead shop the other day, so you will no doubt be seeing some of that very soon.  I also managed to get some kraft cardstock too so I am very excited!

Dies: Sizzix 'Circle #1' and 'Scallop'
Paper: Card One - We R Memory Keepers 'Nonsense - Jingle Jangle', brown and blue Bazzill, Card Two - DCWV, black and turqoise Bazzill
Accessories: Card One & Two - Buttons, ribbon and brad from stash, Card Two - Mei Flower gingham pre-made bow

That's it for now, I've got a few ideas bubbling away, I just need to put them together.

Happy Monday for tomorrow!

Bee Happy!

I decided to have a go at the Mojo Monday #72 sketch this week. I LOVE this sketch, it is gorgeous. I just love this whole sketch thing in general. It's so much fun seeing what others create, and how people interpret the sketches in such different ways. I have seen some beautiful designs out there that would never have even entered my mind.

I thought I would do something non-Valentine's Day for a change! I enjoyed making this card, the colours are really fun to work with, but it didn't photograph very well however the paper is intended to look distressed anyway. I still need to play around with all the lighting side of things. Rae came up with a great idea for a light box, I am definately going to try that out ...well I will get Ian to look at it for me! I have not done a challenge on Mojo Monday yet, but have been looking at them for the last couple of weeks with the intention of getting around to it.

My interpretation of the sketch is below. Hope you like it...

*Edited - to add goodies used*

Dies: Quickutz bumble bee, Cuttlebug embossing folder for yellow strip behind ribbon
Paper: K & Co 'Wild Saffron', Bazzill
Accessories: Ribbon from my stash, s.e.i burnt almond fudge alphabet stickers
