Double Cupcakes

Can you believe it’s October already?!  Countdown to Christmas!  Don’t worry I’m not sharing anything Christmas today.  Au contraire, I’m sharing some birthday cards for my blog post over at Make The Day Special that I recently made for some friends of Natasha’s that are twins.

I had a very specific brief given to me about what stamps I had to use, the colours and even the papers. My girl certainly knows her own mind!!

This was the result…

Have a great Tuesday!

Daislies

Hi there.  Today’s card for Make The Day Special was a result of a colouring session that I had. I was colouring while watching a film and just couldn’t stop once I started!  The set I used is called Daisies and Paisleys but for some reason I always end up calling it Daislies, hence the title!

I used this sketch from Unscripted Sketches as a starting point but as I got creating I kind of forgot about the squares and got a bit carried away!

For all the details pop on over to the MTDS blog.

Have a great Tuesday!

Play Date Cafe Colour Splash

Today is colour splash day over at The Play Date Cafe and the splash is lime green.  Our colour splashes are always really popular.  I hope you join in the fun.

I created this little card using stickers from our sponsors..

We are being sponsored by SRM Stickers, they sent a fabulous little package over for me to play with and this is what I created.  Thank you SRM!

The little cupcake sticker actually has a lovely red cherry on it but because this challenge is all about just a pop of colour I used a little black gem to cover it up.  I have to be honest I'm not normally a sticker fan but these have totally changed my mind, you can't see the edges of the stickers at all and they are all such fun designs.  I'm a convert!

Pop on over to the main PDCC blog for details of the prize up for grabs and the DT inspiration line up.

Have a look at SRM too to see what I mean about the fun designs, they really are lovely and so quick to use when you need a card in a rush!

Thanks for popping by!

Some Gradient Fun

As I write this post I am falling asleep over my computer keyboard so you will have to forgive me that it’s shorter than my usual posts.  It’s time for another fun challenge over at Color Me Creative, this time it’s all about backgrounds so check out the main  CMC Copic Challenge Group for all of the fun details.

I have to be honest I struggled with this one, I’m not great with Copic backgrounds, that must be a video I haven’t seen yet!  I came up with a technique that I’d seen over on Nichole Heady’s blog where you use your pens to create a gradient of colour by blending each ‘striped’ section with the next.  I used this technique on the circle behind my little cupcake, hope you can make it out.  I will definitely try it again another time, it would be fun to do in different colours, especially rainbow colours.

Here’s what Nicole did with hers …

My gorgeous little cupcake image is from Squigglefly, our sponsors this week.  This image is called Cherry Cupcake Cutie!  I love her little smiley face (because obviously she's a girl with all that pink around her lol)!  Thank you Squigglefly, I had fun colouring her in and I'm sure she will be used again and again!

For my card I used the following colours;

Cake case: BG15, BG13, BG11
Cupcake: E31, E33, E34
Cherry: R59, R37 and used tip to tip method to blend the two colours
Background: RV29, RV25, RV23

I hope you give this technique a try, it’s really fun to do!

Check out the rest of the DT girls’ projects, they pulled this challenge off a whole lot better than I did!
I’m entering this card into the following challenges..

Crafty Cats Weekly Challenge – to use pink
Inspire Me Fridays – anything goes
Pause Dream Enjoy – Cupcakes or baby

I hope you join along with us for our fun challenge.

Have fun!

I Wish I Was A Glow Worm!

I wish I was a glow worm, cause a glow worm’s never glum.  ‘Cause how can you be grumpy when the sun shines out your bum?!

Don’t you just LOVE this phrase, it really makes me giggle!  It’s one of the fun stamps by DRS, the sponsors for this week’s Play Date Cafe Challenge.

I created this little card for a very lovely friend that always likes to smile and see the fun side of life and I’m hoping I got it right when I thought that this would be right up her street for her birthday card!

I stamped the little sentiment inside.. Even the font’s cute, isn’t it!
PDCC 141(2)
My card is blank inside, I didn’t take a pic because the light over here isn’t great.  We have lots and lots of rain right now, with lots of grey cloud.  Even more reason to have a fantastic little sentiment like this to brighten up your day!!  I know some of you US gals are suffering with droughts so I will gladly send some rain over to you!!

I used a mixture of old scraps of paper, the die cut letters/number are from a Sizzix letter set called Ida Flowers ScrapBox.  I coloured in the glow worm with some Copics and added some glitter Stickles to finish.

Play Date Cafe

** Edited to add... We have been experiencing a few techie issues with our Play Date Cafe blog.  Please bear with us, we're looking into it and hope to get it resolved soon. **

Hey there!  I’m going all soft and delicate with my card for our new Play Date Cafe challenge today, rather than my usual in your face style lol.
PDCC 130
We have a delicate colour palette this week, perfect for this time of year, so come and join in on the fun with us!  Our suggested colours are Dolphin, Salmon and Sea Glass.

I got  my goodies for this card  from the lovely Cassie over at Paper Issues shop, they arrived all beautifully packaged and just in time for me to use on this.  I even used the ribbon from her packaging, nothing like a bit of recycling!!  The papers are from Websters Pages, (Sunday Picnic & Everyday Poetry 6 x 6 pad) the butterfly is Martha Stewart.  The charcoal mat is Bazzill that has been run through my Textile Texture embossing folder and the ribbon is a la Cassie!  Finally the added sentiment is from PTI’s Beautiful Butterflies.

Play Date Cafe and Sweet Stamp Shop

Happy Thursday!  It’s time for a bit of fun over at The Play Date Cafe this week with Sweet Stamp Shop as our sponsor.

PDCC 113

I chose to use this Scootin’ By set..
image
I used the little polka dot flag (on the right of the set) to paper piece a mini banner for the top of the card and then finished off with some little presents that I paper pieced.  I added a bit of white with my gel pen for a bit of oomph!

Jax’ inspiration picture had some soap bars (?) with text on so I used that as inspiration for the text background.  The suggested colours are mint, juniper and vanilla.

I hope you’ll join in with us this week, the colours are lovely to work with.  I actually really surprised myself with these.  I thought I would find them tricky being pastels, but I love them and would definitely use this combo again.  Thanks Jax, another combo to add to my list!

Pop by and visit the rest of the team and don’t forget to visit the main Play Date Cafe blog for all of the challenge details.  Sweet Stamp Shop are also having a DT call right now so pop on over to check out the details.

Back soon with a simple thank you card to share with you all.

In the meantime have fun!
