PDCC 65

Hi everyone

Today over at Play Date Cafe we have some fun colours for our challenge; grey, green and orange.  My original idea for this card design is absolutely nothing like it turned out!  I had completely different plans for it, but just decided to go with the flow!!  Does that ever happen to you?  Now seeing it photographed I can see I missed a set of the little triple hearts at the top left, but I was just stamping randomly, and it's meant to look home-made, right??!!! lol

This is the inspiration pic from Sarah...

A good challenge, huh!!

This card was ever so easy to make.
  1. Stamp house image and sentiment, colour and cut out
  2. Cut a frame (well actually get your other half to cut your frame, if you're anything like me you will cut it wonky - I just can't do straight line cutting!!!)
  3. Stamp the frame with lots of mini hearts and a little balloon in the corner, use stickles to decorate
  4. Cut a piece of green patterned paper, attach to back of frame
  5. Stamp little flowers on the paper, hearts for the chimney and add stickles
  6. Attach house image to green paper using pop dots
  7. Add orange polka dot ribbon before attaching whole frame to front of card

Home

Hi there

Home....This is where I wish I was now!  I may be a little quiet on my blog this week as I am having some treatment on my back and I'm having to stay away from home :o(

I had hoped to join in the H{ippity} Hop today, but it didn't quite happen, so I thought I would share a card that I made a while ago for a publication.  Unfortunately, it didn't make it through but I loved playing along with the colours though!

I used a Sizzix cutter for the house, little buttons for the smoke coming out of the chimney and American Crafts thickers for the word 'home', finally finishing it off by handwriting the word 'new'.

Hope you likey!

I will be back on Thursday with my Play Date Cafe card, the colours this week are FAB! You will love them!

Also, if you haven't entered the first ever Tiffany Doodles' challenge yet, there are some great digi images to win.

Don't forget to play along with both, they are great fun.  You could even combine the two challenges to make it easier!

Have a great week, back soon!

Home Sweet Home

Mmmm, 'Home Sweet Home'... My Marmie always says, 'It's not a house, it's home'!  We've been living here nearly a year now, but it's funny how it takes a while to settle in and eventually call it your home.

I made this card for the Card Patterns Sketch Challenge #58.

When I saw this challenge I had a few ideas of what papers to use, but decided to make a new home card with these ones.  As you can see I've moved the label over a bit.  That was only because I wanted to use my wide red ribbon, otherwise I would have left it where it should have been!  For once I've actually pretty much followed the sketch ;o)

I LOVE this pad of papers by K & Co, so much so that it's nearly finished :o(   Any excuse to go shopping for papercrafting supplies though!  :o)

I had a go at paper piecing over the weekend, so I thought I would apply the same kind of technique to this card, but using die cuts instead.

What conjures up 'home' for you? It's quite a difficult one to describe, isn't it? It's that feeling of when you walk through the door at the end of a long day and breathe a sigh of comfort. It makes me think of my little Lulu (dog) wagging her tail the minute I get in as if she's not seen me for months when it might have only been half an hour!   It's knowing you can be completely at ease.  For me that means bundling all my hair on top of my head and tying it up with a clip like Pebbles in the Flintstones, as I'm often called at home by Ian and Natasha!

It's about being surrounded by people that love and care for you, and you them in return.  Then it's the other little things like the smell of fresh coffee (in my case Caramel or Vanilla flavoured!), flowers in a vase on the window ledge, and a freshly made bed.  Sometimes it's nice to take time out to just think about the little things of life, don't you think?

Dies: Sizzix 'Home Sweet Home #2', Nesties label
Card:  Bazzill cardstock
Inks: None (sentiment printed on computer)
Accessories:  Yellow sticker by Mei Flower, wide red ribbon from stash

Have a great day/evening :o)

Top 5 - Get Sketchy, Card of the Week & More Challenges!

Hi there everyone

I am SO excited! I made the Top 5 over at Get Sketchy on Saturday! I only found out last night by accident! I had noticed some traffic from there coming to my blog and wondered why, then saw my card listed as one of the Top 5. Woohoo!!!! That's the first challenge I've ever achieved anything in. Then when I was looking through Card of the Week and Best of the Blogosphere(13 -20 Feb) I came across another one of my cards, this one here that I made for the Clean and Simple Challenge.   It must be my week! Wow! I had made a New Year's resolution to keep trying challenges with the hope that I would achieve something in one of them this year! Yay!!!!!! I'm SUCH a happy girl, can you tell?!!!

Ok, so enough of that, here are a few more cards that I'd like to share with you. I've been in the mood for making cards this past couple of weeks, as you can probably tell :o)

This first card is for Card Patterns Sketch #52. Unbelievably I am early with this challenge. I know, can you believe it?!! I can't! As soon as I saw this sketch I knew I just had to dig out my Early Bird papers again. Ooh, they are SO yummy! This sketch was fun.   Sorry about the photo, I took it quite late at night, but have posted it now to a friend so didn't get chance to rephotograph it in better lighting.  Despite trying to brighten it in PSE it's not coming up any better.

The funny thing with this sketch was that I rounded the corners of the little squares so that each one was different to the next, only to then remember that my two panels would cover them anyway, so you wouldn't see them lol.

I made this card for the Clean and Simple Challenge FTL#79 this week.    I have fallen in love with this site, it's fab!  The card is self explanatory, all Early Bird papers and accessories by Cosmo Cricket.  All I did was ink all edges with Tim Holtz distress ink.

I also made this card using the same sketch, although I'm not that sure about it. It doesn't quite work for me somehow, but I can't put my finger on what's wrong with it or whether it's just everything lol. The paper is just so cute though, it had to be used!
After I did these though I realised that neither of them have actually been stamped.  Oh well, I have been having fun doing them :o)  Does using distress ink count as being stamped lol?!!

I have more to share with you later this week.

Oh yes... Did I tell you I made the Top 5?!!!! ;o)
