Our new challenge up over at Color Me Creative is all about colouring fur. I haven’t coloured fur before so dug out one of my VERY old stamps to see what I could come up with and found this little old bear.
Using a sketch from Fetch-A-Sketch and the new colours over at Color Q and Annabelle Stamps I cut out two strips of patterned paper and then die cut some stars, first in coaster board and then in patterned paper that I used to cover the coaster board.
The bear was coloured using E31, E35, E50 and E53 producing a lovely honey brown. I think I will use this colour combo again, I really like it. Colouring fur is slightly different to the typical blending technique because you want to create a fluffy effect. To do this you colour it quite roughly being careful not to overblend. (I sound like I know what I’m talking about, don’t I?! I haven’t a clue really, it’s just that I watched one of Suzanne (Dean’s) videos all about it over at the Color Me Creative classes!)
Once I’d done the colouring I took a flannel and spritzed it with some colourless blender. I then dabbed the slightly wet flannel over the entire image to create a mottled effect.
I LOVE this coaster board from PTI, it cuts beautifully and it’s so easy to cover too. I think you may see a bit more of this on my blog in the future! Our girls have been busy creating some more furry fun for you, so pop by for a visit..

I’m off now to rest up, I’ve been poorly for a few days now so keep needing to have a doze. At least I’m blaming it on that, maybe it’s just that I’m getting old lol
