Color Me Creative–Sepia or Black & White Challenge & a Winner!

Hi there everyone

Today I have a fun card to share with you using sepia colouring techniques.  When I first heard about this challenge I panicked a little!  I have never coloured in sepia so it was definitely a bit of a stretch, but to my surprise it was a whole lot easier than I thought and I loved doing it.

(NB: if you’re here to find out the winner of my giveaway please scroll to the bottom of this post)
CMC 911-2
My friend bought me this gorgeous Greeting Farm stamp, she’s called Tuesday.  You can’t quite make it out in the photo but I have coloured her eyeshadow with a Spica glitter pen so it has a lovely sparkle to it.

If you’re signed up to Suzanne’s Color Me Creative classroom you will find a fabulous tutorial in Class 4 on how to colour with sepia.  I rummaged through my old photos to see if I had any that were sepia, but thankfully I mustn’t be old enough as my oldest are just black and white!  I’d like to try and recolour her in black and white actually as it’s another technique I haven’t tried yet.

These are the inspiration pics…

It’s meant to be a ‘pop’ of colour so I’m not quite sure my polka dot background qualifies but my image does just have a pop of colour if that counts ;o)

What’s fun about this technique is that you don’t need every single pen out on your studio table, you just have a few as you can see below and where they are so close in the colour family they blend almost effortlessly.  I’d love to know what you think of her hair, I was experimenting with some lighter tones.

The rest of the DT girls have made up some absolute beauties, you will be in awe of some of their colouring, so pop by and visit each of their blogs for inspiration…

Color Me Creative – Colour Brunettes

Hi there

Today over at Color Me Creative we are having a new challenge which is all about brunettes. This new challenge, #20, will run until June 24th!

As you all know I’m only starting out with learning Copics.  I’m nearly at the end of my first Copic class and I’ve really enjoyed it.  What I really like about colouring hair is that there are so many styles and colours that you can use too.

Here is my card…

CMC 611-1

I used the Card Positioning System sketch below and kept it all quite simple as you can see.
221

My most challenging area at the moment is skin, I seem to end up with faces that look like their foundation has gone all blotchy, like they’ve put it on with a trowel instead of a smooth finish lol.  I WILL achieve a perfect skin at the end of it, I’m determined!

In fact I had coloured in my image and then decided to go back and add in more shading, only to go and mess up around her eyes ruining the whole image.  I tried to cut out just her face and re-attach it, but it didn’t look right, so rather than do the image again I decided to get out my Spica pen, adding in a touch of eyeshadow, and ta da, card fixed.  I love happy mistakes :o)

Don’t forget, each month  EVERY CMC Challenge Entry for that month gets the chance to win a prize and we also pick a random winner!  That winner will win a Gift Certificate to Oozak.com!

So we will have 1 Challenge Winner for EACH Challenge (prize listed below each challenge) AND 1 winner from all that month's challenges to win the Oozak Gift Certificate! Two ways to win, but you’ve got to be in it to win it ;o)  Pop on over to the Color Me Creative blog now and join in on the fun!

I’d also like to tell you about a few updates to our DT.  We now have a Senior DT and some new additions too…

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Today was a special day in England, it was the Royal Wedding of William and Kate and what a fairytale wedding it was, absolutely beautiful.  I hope you manage/managed to watch some/all of it.  Truly a moment in history, Cinderella like!  My poor little girl on my card is more Cinders than Cinderella!

She was created for the latest WEE Memories challenge, ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’

girlsjustwannahavefun

When I saw this challenge I couldn’t get the song by Cyndi Lauper out of my head!  I had been looking to colour one of my new Greeting Farm stamps (Laundry) and thought this would be perfect for the title of the challenge.  This poor little sweetie looks worn out from doing her washing and I thought it would be a bit of fun to add a little thought bubble as if she was wishing she could go out and have a bit of fun instead of doing the chores!

I used Stella & Rose papers for the entire card, a Prima flower, Fancy Square and Square Nesties and the sentiment/thought bubble were printed on my computer using MS Word.

Copics: Y11, Y13, Y15, B24, B26, B29, YR21, YR24, R21, R22, R24, R27, R29, V20, V25E00, E11, E23

Hope you likey!

Back tomorrow with a card for the latest Color Me Creative and Etsy Inspired Challenges.

Cafe and Ian - what a perfect combination!

Hello everyone, time for a neutral colour palette from me for a change over at the Play Date Cafe!

Here are this week's colours...
My green on my card is looking more like khaki than the colours shown here, but it is right in real life, honest!!

Today we are being sponsored by The Greeting Farm, as you will see over time I really love these stamps, they are particularly great for colouring in with Copics, fun!  We each got to play with a different Greeting Farm stamp, mine was 'Cafe Ian'.  VERY appropriate for me seeing as I'm a caffeine addict and Ian is my other half!!

The Greeting Farm are kindly sponsoring this week's challenge with a $25 gift certificate!  Ooh, can I win?!!!

So what stamps did the other DT girls get?  Well pop by and see for yourselves, lots of beautiful inspiration, each totally unique ...
