Going Girlie

Hi there.  I hope your weekend is getting off to a good start.  We had my friend stay overnight, so were up chatting till very late.  There's nothing quite like a good old gossip with your girlie friends, is there?!!

I have a girlie card to share with you today, which I'm going to enter into the Cupcake Craft Challenges.  I needed to make a girlie graduation card, but this card could be used for any 'congrats' special occasion really.

I fancied doing a bit of black, red and turquoise, and to use my red polka dot buttons.  Aren't they the cutest?

Our snow has now been washed away with rain and it's very overcast here today but this little card brightens it up! I always like the effect you get with the scallop cutters, the flowers look really cheery.   I was quite pleased with how these flowers turned out. My friend had bought me one of the Sizzix flower cutters for Christmas, (the one in red).  I then added a Cuttlebug flower which is a double die, one in turquoise and one in black, and the petals all fitted together really well.  I will just leave you with the supplies used for this card, but if you do want the details just give me a shout.

Dies: Cuttlebug 2 step die - scribble flower, Sizzix 'Flower and Vines w/stem', 'Circle #1', Scallop, 'Catty Corner' alphabet set
Paper: Basic Grey 'Urban Prairie - Ladybug', red, black and turquoise cardstock
Accessories: polka dot ribbon from stash, Doodlebug 'ladybug' polka dot button

Have a good evening.  I'm off to watch an adventure movie with Natasha and Ian, snuggled up under a duvet.  My kind of a perfect night in :o)

Going back in time

These pictures are the inspiration for this week's challenge over at the Corrosive Challenge Blog #22!

They really stumped me!I tried all sorts of things and eventually came up with this. I HATE it!!!
I just couldn't get my head around this challenge at all so decided to go with the rock theme. I think my mojo has left town!

Using a piece of my daughter's scrapbook paper - Thanks 'Tink' ;o) - with the rock chick on it I rounded off the corners and pop dotted it. I punched out a border in pink which I stuck underneath. I then matched up the colours of the rainbow with some chipboard letters to spell out 'You Rock' and added a couple of gems. At the bottom, above each of the holes I put alternate orange and pink legless brads, and a couple at the top to give a bit of balance. I love those brads, they add dimension with very little effort! Finally I added the sentiment using some little clips that I have had for years and never used, and a couple on the right hand side to add interest. Don't you just love it when you get around to using something that you've had for years. You feel like your halo is glistening, don't you?!!!

Dies: None! (Oh wow, that's a first for me lol!!)
Paper: Pinched from my daughter's scrapbook set. Sorry, no idea who makes it, pink Bazzill cardstock
Accessories: Swarowski Gems, Li'l Davis Designs Vintage Wood Alphabet, Legless Brads in 'Totally Tropical' and tag from Craftwork Cards, Martha Stewart hole punch

Hopefully next week the challenge will be a bit easier. I am sure you guys can come up with some fab creations for this one though, so get that mojo going and join in on this week's challenge, I'd love to see what you all make!

Enjoy the rest of your day. I'm hoping to get a bit of crafting done this week, and have some cards to show you. Now that Natasha is off school we can get creative together. Tomorrow is supposed to be pouring rain so what better excuse to stay in for a bit of crafting?!!

A cut above the rest

I think I might need to come clean... I am addicted to blogging and sketch challenges!! I had to make a card for a friend who is a hairdresser, so I thought I would use a challenge from Cupcake Craft Challenges, Sketch #23. I wanted to create something with pastel colours as it's not usually my thing, says she with the ballerina on her blog a few days ago... but generally I do prefer to work with stronger colours :o)

Recipe:

Dies:'Sizzix Originals Die Dress Ups, Girl Hair','Body', 'Dress Up Faces'
Hole Punches: Scallop circle by Dovecraft
Paper: Old scraps from my stash, Bazzill Bling
Accessories: Ribbon from my stash, Swarovski crystal gems, brad

Let me know what you think. ♥
